monument commemorating anna lambert in krems a.d. donau

When the tax consultancy firm Nidetzky opened its office in the building in which the Kohn family had lived, a group of townspeople in Krems decided to create a sort of monument commemorating the life of Anna Lambert (née Kohn, 1907–1993). She had spent her childhood and youth in the house on Schwedengasse 2 and lived there until she was forced to emigrate in 1939 (in 1992 Robert Streibel published a commemorative book together with her). As part of this entirely private initiative, Leo Zogmayer was asked to develop an artistic solution which was simple in formal terms. On the opposite sides of the portal Steiner Tor he had mounted a sort of commemorative shrine. Each consisted of a metal square (40 x 40 x 20 cm) which conspicuously bore the inscription "1932–1939" or "IN DIESER STADT" (In this town). These two bronze cubes contain admonishing texts or a declaration, in which some 500 people have committed themselves to opposing racism and xenophobia.
