Information

A pool of water with a watercourse inlet was designed for the existing garden, which was on three levels. The granite boulder at the source is a local 'foundling'.

In the original concept for the garden complex of the home for the elderly in Hollabrunn three horizontal square areas were provided on the steeply descending terrain. At the bottom was the collecting basin for the water system, at the top a place with benches for sitting on, and in-between was a little flower garden for the residents of the home to plant their own flowers. In addition, there was the actual sculptural work in the area of the water course. The source stone was from an irregular block, there were variously worked steps made of granite, in order to overcome the difference in height and to be able to hear the water, as well as a bridge made of granite, in order to be able to choose between several paths. The works made of stone were intended to be subordinate to the surroundings as much as possible, as if they had always been there.
