Information

The physical biological processes that lead to the creation of the spine are the theme of this installation with bronze casts on stone in the countryside, as are other formative processes.---

Stefan Eins plays with colours: mixing them, letting them run and observing what happens. The artist has been preoccupied with these processes for years. By painting and in various experiments he discovered that the principles and laws according to which fluids expand and are formed are the same as those upon which formations in living creatures are based. A splurge of paint, or order comes from chaos – anyone who looks at this splurge more closely will notice that it takes the form of a fish with a head, a tail, fins and spine. Bronze casts of various formations are made of stones weighing tonnes and then placed in the landscape. This project illustrates the physical-biological process which leads to the development of the spine, yet also indicates other formative processes.
