Information

The design, which was not realised, for a bus shelter at the side entrance of the church envisaged a simple 2m x 6m box for waiting in. The shelter would have been carefully made to suit the setting: stainless steel and panes of different coloured glass permitting the space to be seen through while creating different areas in the setting.

The bus stop by Brigitte Löcker at Hauptplatz in Hainburg is a project consisting of small measures employed to great effect. The bus stop is still in the road area just before Hauptplatz, the main square, on the side frontage of the church. The church's side door, the tree and the existing street lamps in the vicinity of the bus stop were cleverly integrated in the concept for the Waiting Box. The 2m x 6m Box consists of a sand-blasted stainless steel frame with blue and Rosalin glass areas. The glass areas are positioned to correspond with the immediate surroundings and define the gaps and views. The coloured glass areas reinforce the play on the layers of space created. The side of the Box facing the church creates a new triangular space with the also newly conceived Rosalin glass panel of the side door. Seen from the front the object gains an unexpected effect of depth with the way it integrates the glazing of the door in the concept for the colour scheme.
The reflections in the glass surfaces add more density to the perceptible spaces created by the apparently 'simple' glass box.
