The complete reconstruction of the secondary school in Herzogenburg by the architect Fritz Göbl also brought about a new and attractive school yard suitable for events organized by the community. A rather huge fountain made of stainless steel forms the center of the yard. Depending on the angle from which it is looked at it presents itself in ever-changing shapes ranging from a triangle to a square to an X. When drawing imaginary lines connecting the three-dimensional diagonals one may see a cube leaning against the ground with one of its lateral edges. Water spouts from 20 nozzles in parabolic curves which differ according to the height of the nozzle and the respective water pressure. The large amount of mathematics and physics packed into the whole construction represents a permanent challenge to the older pupils while the younger ones are testing their courage by running through the jets of water. The fountain is also well visible from the streets and has become a favorite meeting place in the evening. The water is dissipated in the porphyry of the black square basin to the fountain and fed back to the pump.
