Information

Alongside a coloured marble sculpture entitled 'Meilenstein' (Milestone), conceived as a symbol for the stages of man's life, steps of clay were completed as a symbol for growth. A fountain of glazed ceramic with the surface effect of stone polished by water stands for life and movement.

Access to the school door was optically extended, became a courtyard, a square. a place to wait, to meet, to prepare, to be stimulated. The paving stones of the floor extend the path provided, an arrow points from the street to the entrance in a zigzag, with stops which are marked on the ground: three squares in an octagon, each of which have three objects in the centre. The three stops: 1) The stairs: symbol for growth, progress, the connection with the intellectual and the religious. 2) The milestone: symbol of periods of life, in this case the time period of school-going; symbol also for the connection to the earth, earthiness. 3) The source: symbol of life, of movement, of circulation. Materials: the stairs are made of fired clay with a blue slip. The milestone was worked from local coloured marble, the colour of which also alludes to the existing image. The fountain is made of fired glazed clay and has the surface appearance of old stone that has been polished by water.
